A-Kon 2009

Wed Jun 3, 2009, 4:59 AM
I'm back from my yearly trip to A-Kon. I would report fully on my sales as I did last year, but I'm afraid there's not much to say.

The biggest selling print was last year's "Link's Piggie Panic." [link] I made 20 copies and 17 of them sold. My two other new prints only sold roughly 4 or 5 copies. "Kafuka" [link] did not sell a single copy. my Bobobo print [link] has even sold more than that. (I sold 1 at this con.)

In general sales were weak, and the fact we were placed on a second floor sales area which closed at an early hour every night didn't help. I blame the economy: everyone was a careful spender this year, including me. Still, I have to take some of the blame for my work not doing so well. It's a clear sign that I have to try harder. I need to expand my portfolio to create more dynamic work. Hopefully, I'll make good on my promise this year to finish an original comic, as well as create more interesting prints year round.

Returning from A-Kon

Mon Jun 2, 2008, 5:54 AM
I'm back from my trip to A-Kon. Here's a basic rundown of my sales:

Link's Piggie Panic [link] - Was far and away my best selling print. I made 14 copies and they all sold out within two days of the convention. One little girl asked me for an autograph.

Radical Edward [link] came in second. I sold all but 3 slightly discolored copies which I gave away to friends instead. I gave a copy to the guest, Shinichi Watanabe, in exchange for a photo of the two of us together. Great guy.

1936 Pikachu [link] Didn't sell very well at first, but I managed to sell about 7 before the end of the con. I learned to point it out specifically to people dressed in pokemon cosplay. One person stopped to say "I really hated that part in Kingdom Hearts." I laughed.

Finally, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo [link] Only managed to sell 3 copies. I had people come to the table just to inform me how much they disliked the series. I could have argued with them about how truly poignant a parody it is, but oh well.

I sold maybe only two for five dollars. The rest sold for three dollars. I made 100 dollars exactly. Half of it is going into my bank, some of it is going to be split with :iconclan-omen: (Thanks for sharing the booth!) and the rest I'm going to use to buy a personal DVD player to watch all the new anime I got.

I'm Back

The funny thing about my long absense is that during my downtime, my work was watched and commented on more than it ever has been since I was active.

For your information.

Contrary to popular belief I am updating this page. However, I've only had enough time to make drawings suitable for the 'Scraps' section. So, I'm jsut letting you know to check the scraps section for the new stuff.
